This is showing the steps in how to build a traditional horn bow. Step 28 looks interesting.
it almost makes it seem easy, might have to give is a try. Hmm the list of things I need to try is getting way to long.
I'm sure it really is just that simple and there are no little details to trip me up. Like what kind of glue they used, how they finished or tillered it. Yeah nothing like that at all.

Easy, hahahahahaha. Compared to the bows I make it looks like building a quantium-didly.

This looks alot(well I hope it ends up looking a lot like this lol) like a project that I have just started.
Except it's going to be a Bamboo bellied version. And also instead of a three piece core(ears and bow core) I'm going to make it all out of one piece of Maple.
I'll steam bend the ends at a 45(ish) degree angle for the ears and the center at about 15 degrees for the profile. Glue the bamboo belly, sinew the back and see what happens.

Thanx for the link, I'm going to print it off and use it for reference for sure!

Regards,
Matt.

Does any one know of any Chinese "Traditional HornBow" bowyers of today location wise?

I've been planning a trip to China and visiting one of their trad. bowyer's shops is definitely on the to-do list.

somewhere on the ATARN site is the address or website of the rather hairy fellow in those pics. I've also seen him on Weapon Masters on the Discovery networks, he made them a repeating crossbow.

I'm not sure, but his showroom may be here:

Room B-102, Row B, Panjiayuan, Chaoyang District,

Beijing, China

New address in Pinyin: Bei-Jin-Shi-Chao-Yang-Qu-Pan-Jia-Yuan-Yi-Pai-B-102-Shi

New address in Chinese: 北京市朝阳区潘家园乙排B-102室

it's early for me and I've not had my tea for caffene. . his website is here

Thanks you very much...I began to become discouraged because I've read on ATARN that no one makes these bows any more except maybe some poor villagers that sell them to tourist shops where the bows are left strung and abused till no longer functional and hobbyists that keeps them for themselves. Again thanks a lot for the info as it will make my trip sooo much more interesting.
