Reduce - Reuse - Rat Rod Bow
There is a bulk trash day nearby. I see a lot of wood while I'm driving around, plus other stuff.
So here is the first official The Bowyers' Den contest.
Contest Goal : Build a functional, working bow from a pile of refuse.
Rule 1: You must get your materials from some one else's scrap heap, not your own.
Rule 2: No restrictions on what material or tools you use, glue is allowed
Rule 3: Document your trash to flash transformation with pictures.
Rule 4: Must shoot 6 arrows with the bow.
Points will be given for the following criteria:
5 points for being on a scrap heap, being obviously broken to get all 5
5 points for knowing what it used to be
5 points for using all of the broken thing
5 points for creativity
5 points for full draw photo
5 points shooting six arrows
5 points for draw length, 28" for all 5 points
subtotal of 35 points
extra credit
1 point for each additional part of a full archery kit that comes from scrap heaps
demerit points
You will loose points for use of non-reused from trash items, including glue, backings, string, feathers, points, etc.
However, you may wish to recognize that four steps forward and one step back is still three forward, whereas two steps forward and no steps back is still only two forward.
This is the first contest, so I reserve the option to edit and adjust as we go along.
Dead line August 1st, feel free to speak up if you feel that you need more time, or less if you feel this should be a get in, get it done, and get out kind of job.
Reward, tapered laminations, or perhaps something else.
I am considering posting the pictures of the entries and the winning bow on YouTube and other places, so consider if that is cool with you guys.
